Far Rockaway About Urban Upbound Founded in 2004, the mission of Urban Upbound is to break cycles of poverty in public housing neighborhoods by providing youth and adults the tools and resources needed to achieve economic mobility and self-sufficiency.
Urban Upbound seeks an Employment professional to join our dedicated team as a Youth Pathway Employment Coordinator.
Candidates must be capable of successfully supporting Transitional Age Youth (ages 18-24) with job readiness workshops, planning and facilitating training workshops on employment-related topics including but not limited to labor market trends, resume clinics, and interview techniques as they develop and pursue a successful career.
The Employment Coordinator provides a range of employment services that are tailored to the needs of individual participants, from changing participants' attitudes towards their future and goal setting, to job referrals and job placement.
The ideal candidate would have individualized job development experience with clients from diverse economic, cultural and social backgrounds including low to moderate income.
Additionally, the ideal candidate would have prior experience working with youth between the ages of 18-24 years old with an existing job bank.
Responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining employer relationships within the Accommodation and Food Service, Customer Service/Hospitality, Retail and Administrative Support sectors; Facilitating job readiness preparation trainings, including but not limited to creating resumes, interviewing prep, and independent job search techniques; Researching and developing industry knowledge in key occupations in order to ensure effective matching of candidates to available job orders; Facilitating recruitment sessions for each open job order on a daily basis; Screening and matching job applicants based on qualifications and requirements discussed with employer and hiring manager; Scheduling and referring job ready candidates for open positions daily; Conducting employment assessments to determine candidates' job readiness level; Following up with participants regarding job interviews and employment status and documenting in Urban Upbound's database; Obtaining verification documents from employers and/or participants upon placement in a timely manner and using data on a regular basis to manage performance; Meeting weekly job placement goals; Developing a pool of qualified applicants in advance of hiring needs; and Other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Director and Urban Upbound leadership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree- required Prior experience working with youth 18-24 year old Existing employer relationships within the Accommodation and Food Service, Customer Service/Hospitality, Retail and Administrative Support sectors Prior workshop and presentation experience Prior work experience working with low income communities helpful Spanish language proficiency preferred Must be based in NYC Metropolitan area and able to travel between Long Island City and Far Rockaway offices Willingness to travel is a must (drive or use mass transit) Must possess an active job bank of employers Urban Upbound is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes candidates of all backgrounds Job Type:

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
